On Friday, April 13, Bellator MMA hosted its 197th event from the The Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
In the night’s main event, former lightweight champion Michael Chandler took on veteran Brandon Girtz. The 31-year-old Chandler fought in front of his hometown crowd after winning five of his last six. Girtz, meanwhile, snapped a three-fight skid in his last bout, stopping Luka Jelcic in the first round at Bellator 190.
After getting Girtz to the ground and dominating in the first round, Chandler was able to secure a head-and-arm choke to put his opponent to sleep in just four minutes.
In the co-main event, A.J. McKee took all three rounds against hometown favorite Justin Lawrence to remain undefeated.
