On Saturday, Aug. 16, the UFC hosted UFC Fight Night 47: Bader vs. Saint Preux from the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine.
In the night’s main event, Ultimate Fighter season eight winner Ryan Bader continued his march up the light heavyweight ladder as he took on Strikeforce veteran Ovince Saint Preux. Bader entered the Octagon having won five of his last seven bouts, including back-to-back wins over Rafael Cavalcante and Anthony Perosh. Saint Preux, meanwhile, had gone a perfect 4-0 his first four appearances under the UFC banner.
The night’s co-main event featured more TUF alums, as season nine winner Ross Pearson locked horns with season five’s Gray Maynard. Pearson looked to rebound from a controversial decision loss to Diego Sanchez at UFC Fight Night 42 in June. The former title challenger Maynard hoped to avoid the first three-fight losing streak of his career, having fallen to Nate Diaz and T.J. Grant in consecutive outings.
The 10-fight card kicked off at 8 p.m. ET with four fights airing live on Fox Sports 2. The six-fight main card followed at 10 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1.
