On Saturday, Aug. 26, DEEP Jewels returned to Shinjuku FACE in Tokyo, Japan for DEEP JEWELS 17.
In the evening’s main event, DEEP JEWELS played host to a RIZIN women’s grand prix qualifying bout between former title chalenger Saori “Shooting Star” Ishioka and 19-year-old prospect Kanna Asakura, who already had seven professional wins in her career.
In the night’s co-main event, former DEEP JEWELS lightweight grand prix champion Emi Tomimatsu met rising prospect Satomi”Sarami” Takano in a pivotal atomweight match-up. Tomimatsu held a split decision win over Takano at DEEP JEWELS 10 in 2015. Takano had won three straight including stoppage victories over Miyuki Furusawa, Ye Jin Jung, and Tomo Maesawa.
Elsewhere on the card, 12-year-old Momo Shimizu returned for her second amateur bout against 39-old Tomomi Souda.
