On Sunday, April 23, Shooto traveled to the Maihama Amphitheater in Urayasu, Japan for Professional Shooto 04/23.
In the night’s main event, Shooto world featherweight champion Yutaka Saito defended his title against Japanese MMA legend Caol Uno. Saito had lost two of his three non-title fights since winning the belt against Yoshifumi Nakamura. Uno had 33 wins and 20 finishes in his illustrious career that included wins over UFC veterans Yves Edwards, Din Thomas and Ivan Mejivar.
The fight card also featured TUF 24 finalist Hiromasa Ogikubo returning to Japan against UFC veteran Danny Martinez, Yusuke “Tobizaru” Saruta met undefeated strawweight Koha Minowa, and top prospect Ryuto Sawada fought Takamasa Kiuchi.
The event aired live at 2:30 a.m. ET on Ameba TV.
