The Brazilian Maia entered the contest having won five straight. The 38-year-old most recently dispatched of Matt Brown at UFC 198 via rear-naked choke. Condit, meanwhile, aimed to bounce back from a split decision loss to then-champion Robbie Lawler at UFC 195 in January. The 32-year-old New Mexico fighter had gone just 2-2 over his last four Octagon appearances.
The co-main event featured former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, who made his featherweight debut against Brazil’s Charles Oliveira.
