Jessica Penne vs. Juliana Lima Targeted For UFC Fight Night 67

On the back of a new champion being crowned, the UFC’s newest division has another fight in the works.

Combat Press has learned from sources close to the situation that a bout between Jessica Penne and Juliana Lima is being targeted for UFC Fight Night 67, which is expected to take place in Goiania, Brazil on May 30.

Penne, who was a semifinalist on The Ultimate Fighter 20, is a former atomweight champion with Invicta FC. She was victorious in her UFC debut, defeating fellow TUF 20 cast mate Randa Markos by split decision. The bout saw Penne earn “Fight of the Night” honors and marked her fifth win in her last six outings.

Lima’s first foray in the Octagon saw her drop a unanimous decision to newly crowned champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk. Lima bounced back from her defeat with a unanimous decision victory over Nina Ansaroff. Lima was also originally slated to appear on the aforementioned all-female season of TUF, however, due to her inability to speak English, she was removed from the cast. The Brazilian’s only other loss in MMA competition came against current Invicta strawweight champion Katja Kankaanpää.

More bouts for the May 30 event are likely to be announced in the coming weeks.  The event is slated to be headlined by a welterweight match-up between former interim champion Carlos Condit and former title challenger Thiago Alves, although no official announcement from the promotion has been made at this time.
