The K-1 World MAX 2024 fight card continues to add even more matches. This morning in a press conference, K-1 World GP confirmed that Sina Karimian will look to defend his cruiserweight title against Liu Ce at the Mar. 20 event.
Sina Karimian vs. Liu Ce
Iran’s Sina Karimian captured the cruiserweight throne in 2021 when he knocked out K-Jee. Since then, he has won five matches. Most recently, the 36-year-old striker sustained a loss to Claudiu Istrate during the openweight Grand Prix. The same tournament Liu would go on to win that same night.
The Chinese-born striker Liu made a major impression in the world of kickboxing when he won the K-1 Openweight Grand Prix in 2023, winning all three matches by knockout. Since then, Liu has KO’d both Seiya Tanigawa and Sebastian Lutaniuc in the first round. On Mar. 20, Liu will be looking to add the K-1 cruiserweight crown to his name against Karimian.
More Matches Added to K-1 World MAX 2024
K-1 World MAX 2024 was stacked with matches, including several RISE vs. K-1 fights. It will also have a 16-man 70 kg tournament, which is yet to be filled out with names. On Monday, K-1 added even more fights to this fight event.
Greece’s Antonia Prifti, who just defeated Kana Morimoto, will look to defend her throne against SAHO. Plus, perennial top contender Masashi Kumura will face the dangerous Italian Luca Cecchetti, the WAKO champion.
K-1 also added Kazuki Miburo vs. Rui Okubo and Koya Urabe vs. Hayato Suzuki for this fight event. Mar. 20 is shaping up to be a star-studded evening of fights.
