On Saturday, July 27, the UFC hosted UFC 240: Holloway vs. Edgar from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
In the night’s main event, featherweight champion Max Holloway put his belt on the line against former lightweight titleholder Frankie Edgar. Hawaii’s Holloway had a 13-fight winning streak snapped in his last outing as he moved up in weight to challenge Dustin Poirier for interim lightweight gold at 155 pounds. Edgar had been out of action for over a year, most recently defeating Cub Swanson by decision last April.
The 11-fight event kicked off with two bouts streaming live on ESPN+ at 7 p.m. ET. Four additional preliminary-card fights followed on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET, with the five-fight main card streaming live on ESPN+ pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET.
