On Friday, May 4, Legacy Fighting Alliance held its 39th event from the Dobson Arena in Vail, Colo.
In the evening’s main event, the promotion crowned an interim middleweight champion as Colorado’s Ian Heinisch blasted BrazilianĀ Gabriel Checco to take home a first-round knockout.Ā Heinisch capitalized on his second shot at gold, having fallen short against current UFC fighter Markus Perez in September. He rebounded with a knockout win over Daniel Madrid in January. Checco, meanwhile, has not competed in nearly two years. He was last in action at RFA 43, submitting Heinisch’s teammate, Adam Stroup, via kneebar.
In the co-main event, Hayward Charles bested Christiano Frohlich after three rounds in front of his hometown crowd to secure a victory
