On Saturday, July 11, EFC Worldwide will hold its 41st event from Carnival City in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The event will be headlined by a bantamweight title fight between champion Demarte Pena and challenger Cedric Doyle. The unbeaten Pena has held both the bantamweight and featherweight belts under the EFC banner. The 25-year-old Angolan fighter was most recently in action at EFC 34, where he stopped Francois Groenewald via fourth-round TKO. South Africa’s Doyle earned his shot at gold by reeling off four straight victories inside the Hexagon.
In the co-main event, the promotion’s middleweight title is on the line between Michiel Opperman and Liam Cleland. Opperman is a former welterweight titleholder, who has won two straight bouts leading into the title affair. Cleland is a strong grappler who has gone the distance just once in his career.
