Invicta Fighting Championships is returning home.
The all-women’s promotion has revealed that Invicta FC 18 will take place Friday, July 29 from the historic Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, Mo. The event will stream on UFC Fight Pass.
The event will be headlined by strawweights Alexa Grasso and Jodie Esquibel. Mexico’s Grasso has yet to taste defeat in her career. The 22-year-old has earned three straight wins in the Invicta cage, besting Mizuki Inoue, Alida Gray and Ashley Cummins. The veteran Esquibel returns to the promotion after a brief stint on The Ultimate Fighter. The former atomweight will be making her first appearance at 115 pounds in the Invicta cage.
In the co-main event, Grasso’s teammate, former bantamweight title challenger Irene Aldana, welcomes undefeated Brazilian Taila Santos to the promotion.
Also announced was a bantamweight match-up between Cindy Dandois and Jessamyn Duke, a featherweight tilt featuring Megan Anderson and Peggy Morgan, a flyweight bout between unbeaten fighters Agnieszka Niedzwiedz and Claudia Rey, a strawweight fight pitting undefeated Indian Manjit Kolekar against Lynn Alvarez, and a bantamweight clash between Sijara Eubanks and Amberlynn Orr.
Additional bouts for the event are expected to be announced at a later date.
