The world’s No. 1-ranked kickboxer is returning to the GLORY ring.
Thailand’s Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong will defend his lightweight title against contender tournament winner Christian Baya in the GLORY 50 SuperFight Series main event on Friday, Feb. 16 in Chicago.
Sitthichai enters the bout following a violent, second-round knockout over China’s Yi Long at Wu Lin Feng: Dragon King Challenge. The 26-year-old has amassed a 7-1 record inside the GLORY ring, including two contender tournament titles and a pair of title defenses.
The Angolan Baya is also a contender tournament winner. He defeated Anatloy Moiseev and Massaro Glunder at GLORY 42 in Paris, before stopping Samo Petje at GLORY 49 to cement his place as the No. 1 contender in the lightweight division.
The title clash joins the previously announced welterweight championship affair between Murthel Groenhart and Harut Grigorian. Illinois natives Richard Abraham and Daniel Morales are also slated for the card, but their opponents have yet to be revealed.
Broadcast details and times for GLORY 50 and the GLORY 50 SuperFight Series are expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.
