On Saturday, Feb. 18, Bellator MMA hosted its 172nd event from the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif.
The card was slated to be headlined by the promotional debut of MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko against UFC veteran Matt Mitrione. However, just hours before the bout, Mitrione fell ill and the bout was canceled.
As a result, the co-main event between veteran lightweight Josh Thomson and Brazilian Patricky “Pitbull” Freire was elevated to the night’s top billing.
The card also featured Cheick Kongo vs. Oli Thompson, and the promotional debut of Josh Koscheck.
The action kicked off Saturday with a live preliminary card stream on Combat Press at 7 p.m. ET. The night’s main card aired on Spike TV beginning at 9 p.m. ET.
