GLORY’s return to the Mile High City has a headliner.
The kickboxing promotion today announced that GLORY 24 on Friday, Oct. 9, will feature a rubber match between middleweight champion Artem Levin and Joe Schilling.
The pair have met twice in the GLORY ring, with each fighter claiming victory. Schilling stunned Levin in the GLORY 10 tournament, edging the Russian in an extension round to capture the tourney title. Levin exacted revenge during the one-night, eight-man Last Man Standing tournament last summer in Los Angeles, cruising past Schilling in the final to capture GLORY gold.
Levin’s first title defense came in May against Canada’s Simon Marcus at GLORY 21. After five, hard-fought rounds, the fight was ruled a draw and Levin held onto his belt.
Schilling, meanwhile, got back in the win column at GLORY 19 in February with a unanimous decision win over Robert Thomas. The American has also been active in MMA competition since his last meeting with Levin, having competed in the Bellator MMA cage on three occasions.
In addition to the title bout, GLORY 24 will feature a one-night, four-man heavyweight contender tournament. The winner will earn a title shot against current champion Rico Verhoeven. The tournament participants, as well as more bouts for the event, will be announced in the coming weeks.
GLORY 24 takes place from the Magness Arena on the University of Denver campus on Friday, Oct. 9.
