On Friday, Oct. 3, the UFC hosted the weigh-ins for UFC Fight Night 53: Nelson vs. Story which takes place Saturday, Oct. 4 from the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden.
The night’s main event features a welterweight collision between Iceland’s Gunnar Nelson and veteran Rick Story. Nelson has taken the promotion by storm, scoring submission wins in three of his four Octagon appearances. The 26-year-old has yet to taste defeat in his 14-fight career. Story, meanwhile, will look to build off the momentum of a submission victory over Leonardo Mafra in July. Story has struggled with consistency in his UFC tenure, going just 5-5 over his last 10 outings.
In the co-main event, featherweights Akira Corassani and Max Holloway will lock horns. Sweden’s Corassani began his UFC stint with three straight wins, but succumbed to top-10 fighter Dustin Poirier in April via strikes. Holloway will look to extend his current winning streak to four. The 22-year-old has compiled a 6-3 record with the promotion, most recently defeating Clay Collard in August.
The 11-fight event will kick off Saturday with the seven-fight preliminary card streaming live on UFC Fight Pass at 12:10 p.m. ET. The four-fight main card will follow at 3 p.m. ET, also on UFC Fight Pass.
The fighters hit the scales at 10 a.m. ET on Friday. A live video feed appears above (courtesy of the UFC), while the results appear below.
