Combat Press Kickboxing Rankings: November 2024

As kickboxing continues to grow on a global scale with promotions like GLORY, K-1, ONE Championship, and more, fighters are constantly jockeying for position in the eyes (and rankings) of the media. Every month, Combat Press will compile kickboxing rankings for each weight class from heavyweight to strawweight, as well as the pound-for-pound rankings for both men and women.

Note: the numbers in parentheses represent the fighter’s ranking from the previous month.

Heavyweight (95+ kilograms)

Two light heavyweights were in action in October, and both were victorious, so the rankings remain unchanged. First, on Oct. 5, at Enfusion 140, No. 9 Thian de Vries won a TKO in Round 3 with a jumping knee at the demise of Mimoun Jazouli. A week later, No. 7 Ibrahim El Bouni won a unanimous decision in an extra round against Bogdan Stoica at GLORY 96.

On Oct. 12, at GLORY 96, four ranked middleweights were in action. First, No. 4 Michael Boapeah won a unanimous decision over No. 8 Mohamed Touchassie. In the co-main event, divisional king Donovan Wisse won a unanimous decision over No. 7 Sergej Braun to retain the GLORY middleweight title. Four days later, Sergey Ponomarev won a split decision over Jayden Eynaud at Ural FC 8 to win the vacant Ural FC K-1 -85 kg title. The rankings remain unchanged.

On Oct. 5, at ONE Fight Night 25, Regian Eersel regained his ONE 170-pound kickboxing title with a unanimous decision over Alexis Nicolas in their rematch. They swap the top two positions. On Oct 12, at GLORY 96, No. 3 Chico Kwasi defended his GLORY welterweight title with a split draw against No. 4 Tyjani Beztati. That same evening, No. 7 Teodor Hristov won a decision after an extra round against Robin Ciric. Outside of the top two, the rankings remain unchanged.

October saw some action in the ranked super featherweights. No. 2 Bobo Sacko and No. 3 David Mejia scored decision victories at GLORY 96 and Fight 2 One #7, respectively, which were one week apart from each other. On Oct. 25, No. 8 Jomthong suffered a unanimous decision loss to No. 9 Zhou Jiaqiang at Wu Lin Feng 549. The two change spots in the rankings.

While only one super bantamweight was in action in October, the WLF 63kg B Group Tournament at Wu Lin Feng 549 had a big impact on the divisional rankings. In the semifinals, both No. 2 Kongnapa Weerasakreck and Zhang Lanpei lost unanimous decisions to Wei Weiyang and Giorgi Malania, respectively. Then, in the finals, Malania won another unanimous decision to capture the tournament finals.

No. 8 and Kento Ito and No. 9 Yuzuki Satomi fall out, Kongnapa drops to No. 10, and No. 10 Kan Nakamura jumps to No. 7. Malania enters at No. 8 and Wei at No. 9.

Bantamweight (61.2 kilograms)

On Oct. 5, No. 6 Shoki Kaneda scored a knockout in Round 1 over Toma Tanabe at the K-1 World GP 2024 in Osaka, but that same evening, No. 7 Tatsuya Tsubakihara lost a split decision to Shuhei Kumura. Two weeks later, No. 5 Haruto Yasumoto won a unanimous decision over No. 9 Keisuke Monguchi at RISE 182 to capture the RISE featherweight title. When it all shook out, Kumura re-entered the rankings at No. 7, Monguchi fell off the rankings, and Tsubakihara falls to No. 9.

Also, in October, No. 2 Taito Gunji got back in the win column with a unanimous decision win over Cristian-Bogdan Lungu at the Japan Martial Arts Expo to capture the vacant ISKA Oriental rules Intercontinental super featherweight (-59kg) title.

Editor’s Note: Fighters are eligible to be ranked if they have competed in the last 18 months. Any fighter that chooses to switch weight classes will be ranked in their previous weight class until they have competed twice in their new division.
