Jonathan Haggerty (ONE Championship)

ONE Fight Night 19: Haggerty vs. Lobo Preview and Predictions

On Friday, Feb. 16, ONE Championship will return to the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium for ONE Fight Night 19. The Amazon Prime Video event will feature the following nine bouts – five Muay Thai, three MMA, and one mixed rules.

In the main event, Jonathan Haggerty returns to the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai division following his second-round knockout win against Fabricio Andrade to earn kickboxing gold. The two-sport world champion now looks to continue his historic run by defending his throne against Brazilian title challenger Felipe Lobo.

As for the co-main event, the always-entertaining Saemapetch Fairtex looks to avenge his loss against Mohamed Younes Rabah in an immediate rematch. The bantamweight Muay Thai fighters fought in Dec. 2023, with Younes Rabah winning by first-round knockout in his promotional debut.

ONE Fight Night 19 will also feature an action-packed strawweight MMA bout between Danial Williams and Lito Adiwang, a special-rules bout between Nat “Wondergirl” Jaroonsak and Dayanne Cardoso, and more.

The event airs live on Amazon Prime Video starting at 8 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at the preview and predictions for ONE Fight Night 19.

Two sport champion Jonathan Haggerty puts his bantamweight Muay Thai championship on line in the main event; can he fend off Felipe Lobo to retain the title?

Jonathan Haggerty’s decision to move up to the bantamweight division was questioned at the time. Since then, “The General” proved he made the right choice, as his decreased weight cut has led to increased power and world-class cardio.

Haggerty has looked unbeatable over his last three fights, but he can’t overlook Felipe Lobo. Although underrated at times, Lobo has earned the respect from other fighters in the division by securing wins against Saemapetch Fairtex and Yodpanomrung.

Lobo was a training partner and cornerman for Fabricio Andrade’s fight against Haggerty. Following the kickboxing bout, Haggerty and Lobo engaged in a verbal altercation, adding fuel to the fire for the ONE Fight Night 19 main event.

At the end of the day, Haggerty’s Muay Thai fundamentals are on a different level than Lobo. Therefore, the Brazilian title challenger must make this fight a gritty war to hopefully catch The General off guard and knock him out.

Unfortunately for Lobo, Haggerty is too calculated, too powerful, and too dangerous, ‘The General should retain his bantamweight Muay Thai throne with a knockout win in round two or three.

Saemapetch Fairtex lost by first round KO in his last fight against Mohamed Younes Rabah; will the rematch end in the same fashion?

Saemapetch Fairtex was a sizeable betting favorite heading into his previous fight against Mohamed Younes Rabah. Yet, the Algerian promotional newcomer walked through the fire and made a statement in his promotional debut by knocking out the hard-hitting Thai in round one.

This time, Younes Rabah won’t have the surprise factor on his side, as Saemapetch knows what to expect. Although not much time has passed, Saemapetch should be able to make smarter decisions in the rematch and pull out a gritty unanimous decision victory.

Danial Williams comes into his bout with Lito Adiwang after losing his last contest to Jeremy Miado; can the Thailand born Australian fighter avoid a two-fight skid?

Lito Adiwang’s career could have been over after suffering a severe ACL tear against Jeremy Miado in March 2022. Since then, he’s bounced back with a 23-second knockout win against Adrian Mattheis and a unanimous decision win in a rematch against Miado.

As for Danial Williams, we know what to expect after his seven promotional fights across three disciplines. Williams is willing to fight anyone, anywhere, and go out on his shield if he’s outmatched. As a result, he’s become a fan favorite for his violent wars.

At ONE Fight Night 19, Williams could be in serious trouble, as Adiwang should have a power and durability advantage. It wouldn’t be surprising to see “Thunder Kid” secure a first-round knockout win to advance his winning streak to three fights.

Which fight is the sleeper matchup on this card?

The sleeper matchup for ONE Fight Night 19 is a featherweight Muay Thai bout between Luke Lessei and Eddie Abasolo.

In Dec. 2023, Lessei made his ONE Championship debut in a matchup he was supposed to be outmatched against Jo Nattawut. The American refused to go out without a fight, leading to one of the best Muay Thai bouts in promotional history.

Lessei now returns and looks to get his first win under the ONE banner against Abasolo. “Silky Smooth” holds a promotional record of 1-2, but every fight has been an entertaining battle. Therefore, the combination of two Muay Thai warriors could steal the show at ONE Fight Night 19.
