On Saturday, Feb. 9 (in North America), the UFC will host UFC 234: Adesanya vs. Silva from the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.
The event was expected to feature middleweight champion Robert Whittaker putting his belt on the line against Kelvin Gastelum, but just hours before the event, UFC President Dana White announced that Whittaker had been hospitalized with a hernia and was off the card.
As a result, the night’s scheduled co-headliner between undefeated kickboxing stalwart Israel Adesanya and former middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva was elevated to main event status.
The 11-fight event kicks off with two prelims streaming on UFC Fight Pass at 7 p.m. ET. Four additional preliminary-card bouts follow on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET, with the night’s five-fight main card airing live on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET.
