On Saturday, Aug. 25, the UFC hosted UFC Fight Night 135: Gaethje vs. Vick from the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb.
In the night’s main event, former World Series of Fighting lightweight champion Justin Gaethje clashed with fellow top-10 fighter James Vick. Gaethje, who entered the promotion with an undefeated record, had dropped back-to-back fights against former champion Eddie Alvarez and top contender Dustin Poirier. However, all three of Gaethje’s Octagon appearances had earned “Fight of the Night” honors. Vick, meanwhile, had put together a 9-1 run since joining the promotion through The Ultimate Fighter 15. The Texas-based fighter had stopped five of those nine victories.
The 13-fight event kicked off with three fights streaming on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30 p.m. ET. Four additional preliminary-card bouts followed at 8 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 2, with the six-fight main card airing live on Fox Sports 1 at 10 p.m. ET.
