The GLORY 41 SuperFight Series has a main event.
The promotion has announced that heavyweight championĀ Rico Verhoeven will face off with Dutch-Moroccan newcomer Ismael Lazaar when the promotion visitsĀ theĀ Brabanthallen Exhibition Centre inĀ Den Bosch, Netherlands on Saturday, May 20. The fight will be a five-round, non-title affair.
Verhoeven enters the bout having not tasted defeat in the GLORY ring since 2012. The 27-year-old has won six straight fights, including a second-round TKO victory over veteran Badr Hari atĀ GLORY: Collision last December.
Lazaar will make his promotional debut after a lengthy stint under the Enfusion banner. The 26-year-old is coming off a decision victory overĀ Atha Kasapis at Enfusion Live 47 in March. He holds wins over GLORY veterans Daniel Sam and Thomas Vanneste, and went the distance in a five-round title fight with Jahfarr Wilnis.
The previously announced featherweight title fight between former lightweight and featherweight championĀ Robin van Roosmalen and Thailand’s Petchpanomrung KiatmookaoĀ will now co-headline the SuperFight Series portion of the event. Welterweights Murthel Groenhart and Harut Grigorian have also been added to the SuperFight Series card. However, a middleweight affair between AmericanĀ Mike LemaireĀ and Chinese newcomer Zhou Wei has been pulled from the card and both fighters will be booked at a later date.
The SuperFight Series portion of GLORY 41 is expected to stream live on UFC Fight Pass, while the GLORY 41 main card will air on ESPN 3. More details about the event, including the GLORY 41 headliner, are expected to be announced by the promotion in the coming weeks.
