On Friday, Apr. 8, Kunlun Fight returned for the first night of back-to-back events in Xining City, China. Kunlun Fight 41 featured the debut of popular Turkish kickboxer Tayfun Ozcan against former GLORY lightweight champion Davit Kiria in one leg of the seventh Clash of Titans qualifying tournament. Twenty-year-old Chinese prospect Wu Xuesong took on Brazilian newcomer Alexsander Silva in the other tournament semifinal.
A new Chinese kickboxing star was born when Wu Xuesong knocked out both of his tournament opponents before the start of the third round. Ozcan is considered in the mix with some of the best lightweights in the world, proving that sentiment when he took a decision from top-10 kickboxer Davit Kiria. Xuesong didn’t let his place in the rankings affect his chances against Ozcan in the finals. The young Chinese kickboxer put Ozcan down and out in the second frame, earning his 16th victory and qualifying for the Clash of Titans 16-man, 70-kilogram tournament later this year.
The event featured four qualifying bouts for the 75-kilogram tournament that will take place later in the year. Chinese kickboxers Zheng Zhayou and Zhang Yang took home decision victories over “Nuerla” and Daniel KwangSoo, respectively. Portuguese kickboxer Diogo Calado will move on in the tournament after taking a decision from GLORY veteran Perviz Abdullayev. In the final qualifying bout, Azerbaijani kickboxer Alim Nabiev took a decision from Russian fighter Islam Murtasev.
