RFA 29 Results: Barcelos Edges Musgrave to Claim Title

On Friday, Aug. 21, Resurrection Fighting Alliance hosted its 29th event, dubbed USA vs. Brazil, from the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. The night’s main card aired live on AXS TV at 10 p.m. ET.

In the night’s main event, the promotion crowned a new featherweight champion as Colorado’s Ricky Musgrave took on Brazilian Raoni Barcelos. The 31-year-old Musgrave is a former Army Ranger and entered the title affair riding a four-fight winning streak. He stopped UFC veteran Alvin “Kid” Robinson by first-round TKO at RFA 22 in January. Barcelos, meanwhile, ran his record to 8-1 in February with a first-round knockout of Jamal Parks at RFA 22. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt had stopped six of his eight wins before the final bell.

The co-main event featured a welterweight contest between South Dakota native Jordon Larson and unbeaten Brazilian Ackson Junior. Larson had scored back-to-back wins inside the RFA cage, while Junior was making his promotional debut riding the momentum of five straight wins to open his career.
