The UFC is adding another new stamp to its passport.
Sources close to the situation haveĀ informedĀ Combat Press that the organization willĀ visitĀ the Philippines on May 16, with the card takingĀ place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila. The promotion has been targeting an event in the island nation for the past few years and now those plans appear to have come to fruition.
Manila recently hosted an event from Asian promotion ONE FC that saw former UFC fighter Brandon Vera return to glory with a huge first-round victory.
The May 16 event willĀ mark the first scheduled event for the Asian region in 2015 for the UFC. The event is will be a Fight Night event and stream live on the promotion’s digital network, UFC Fight Pass.Ā With the event slated forĀ Saturday, May 16 in Manila, it will be broadcast on Friday, May 15 in the United States.
A headline bout for the event has not been revealed to Combat Press at this time, however the card is likely to feature Filipino fighters Roldan Sangcha-An and Mark Eddiva, as well as Filipino-AmericanĀ Mark Munoz.
Details about the fight card are expected to be released in the coming weeks, with an official announcement regarding the event taking place on Thursday, Jan. 29 in the Philippines.
