On Saturday, Sept. 17, the World League of Fighting debuted a new brand in Chinese kickboxing, Rise of Heroes. The inaugural event, Rise of Heroes 1, featured many of the promotion’s top stars in attempt to showcase the new brand of fighting in China and around the world.

In the main event of the evening, top-10 featherweight Qiu Jianliang looked to rebound from his controversial decision loss against Aziz Hlali at WLF vs The Fight League in August. Jianliang returned to China in the headliner against Dutch kickboxer Melvin Wassing.

In the rest of the action, top-10 middleweight Israel Adesanya took on French kickboxer Romain Falendry. Top Chinese MMA star Wang Guan returned to the ring against Tajikistan’s Kamardin Akhmadbekov. Wei Rui looked to remain among the world’s best 63-kilogram kickboxers in the world when he took on Belorussian Muay Thai champion Maksim Petkevich.
