ONE 168: Denver has added a couple atomweights to the fray. Alyse Anderson will square off against Victoria Souza on Friday, Sep. 6, at the Ball Arena in Denver per ONE Championship.
Anderson arrived in ONE with a lot of hype and debuted in the ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix. However, she dropped her debut against Itsuki Hirata by decision in spite of a near finish near the bell.
The American returned in form against Asha Roka, winning by first-round submission.
Following a competitive first round against Stamp Fairtex at ONE Fight Night 10, Anderson felt the power of the Thai’s kicking game and lost by second-round TKO after an accurate body kick shut her down.
After more than a year away from the Circle, she gets a shot at redemption in the same city.
But Souza will also be seeking to make waves. Her story is similar going 1-2 in her first three outings in ONE, and she will meet Hirata at ONE 167: Tawanchai vs. Nattawut II on Friday, Jun. 7, in an effort to get back in the win column.
If she can defeat Hirata, she will enter the Ball Arena with a lot of momentum to jump into the rankings discussion at atomweight against Anderson.
The atomweight matchup joins a growing card of ONE’s most exciting athletes. ONE 168 will have multiple championship bouts along with some of the biggest rising stars in martial arts. Anderson vs. Souza is more action that will set the tone for the huge event for ONE’s stateside return.
ONE 168 airs live on Prime Video on Friday, Sep. 6, from Denver, Colorado.
