ONE 166: Qatar Open Workouts Highlights

The top stars of ONE 166 took to the beach to show off some skills for an open workout. With palm trees in the background, Reinier de Ridder, Jarred Brooks, Anatoly Malykhin, Joshua Pacio, Tang Kai, Thanh Le, and Mehdi Zatout put on a show for fans and media.

At ONE 166, Reinier de Ridder will look to avenge a loss and defend his middleweight title against the dangerous Russian slugger Anatoly Malykhin. “Sladkiy” Malykhin is aiming to become a three-division world champion by capturing the middleweight throne.

The US-born Jarred Brooks will put his strawweight title on the line against the former world champion Joshua Pacio. The two fought last year, with Brooks taking the crown from Pacio. Now, the Filipino-born athlete is looking for revenge.

The featherweight world title will be on the line as China’s Tang Kai again faces Thanh Le. The US-Vietnamese Le is the former division world champion and currently holds the interim title. Kai and Le fought previously with the Chinese-born athlete getting the nod in a close decision after a five-round war.

Algeria’s Mehdi Zatout. who is just coming off of a win against Asa Ten Pow, will have a boxing match against Zuhayr Al-Qahtani, of Saudi Arabia. All the fights for ONE 166 go down live from the Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar on Mar. 1.

ONE 166 Open Workouts

On the scenic beach in Qatar, the ONE 166 athletes gave fans and media a memorable show. “The Monkey God” Jarred Brooks strutted into the ring then showed off his hands and loose footwork.

The former double champion, Reinier de Ridder, of the Netherlands, showed off his incredible submission skills.

The brightly smiling Anatoly Malykhin put on a masterclass against the pads showing his fast and powerful hands.

“The Passion” Joshua Pacio showcased his fast hands.

With crisp technique, Tang Kai hit the pads with power and speed, plus with fists and feet.

Thanh Le has won the majority of his fights by way of KO and displayed this power when hitting the pads.

The Algerian athlete Mehdi Zatout showed tight hands and movement ahead of his boxing match at ONE 166.
