On Sunday, Feb. 24, Kunlun Fight held its 80th event from the Shanghai Stadium in Shanghai, China.
In the night’s heavyweight tournament action, 2018 tournament winner Iraj Azizpour looked to repeat as champion. First, he had to get past Brazil’s Haime Morais in the quarterfinals. He lost in the opening round, but an injury to Morais left a spot open for him in the semifinals. Top-five heavyweight Roman Kryklia avenged his loss to Azizpour in this year’s finals. Kryklia entered his bout with Slovakia’s Martin Pacas having won 18 of his past 21 fights. In the other quarterfinals, Enfusion 16-man heavyweight tournament champion Daniel Sam took on fan favorite Asihati and Serbian giant Rade Opacic met China’s Liu Wei.
The 2018 70-kilogram tournament winner was crowned. In the semifinal bouts, 2014 Kunlun Fight tournament champion Dzianis Zuev met the Netherland’s Marouan Toutouh and former GLORY lightweight champ fought unsung Chinese hero Feng Xingli. Davit Kiria took home a closely contested three-round decision against Toutouh
Also, top-10 pound-for-pound female kickboxer Anissa Haddaoui took on China’s Zhang Ye.
