On Friday, Oct. 12, Bellator MMA hosted its 207th event from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
In the night’s main event, the promotion’s heavyweight grand prix continued as UFC veterans Matt Mitrione and Ryan Bader locked horns. Mitrione earned his spot in the semifinals with a majority decision victory over Roy Nelson in the quarterfinals. Bader, meanwhile, punched his ticket to the next round with a 15-second drubbing of Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal. Bader dominated the fight on the ground, taking out Mitrione to advance to the finals.
The co-main event featured the aforementioned Nelson against Russian knockout artist Sergei Kharitonov. In an unexpected turn of events, the Russian paratrooper knocked out Nelson to capture a first-round win just one second before the five-minute mark.
