Amy Dardashtian (@AmyDardashtian), AXS TV Legal Analyst/Huffington Post Legal Contributor, joined Joe Rizzo (@RearNakedChoke) and Jay Kelly (@JayKellyMMA) to talk MMA in NYC.
Audio available for download on iTunes or on Stitcher Radio
The ongoing battle to get mixed martial arts in New York has been a 20-year fight, and Dardashtian gave her in-depth analysis on why this time it appears imminent that the sport will become legal in the state, opening the door for the UFC to have an epic event at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
As Dardashtian explained, MMA might be legal in New York by the time you hear her on RNC Radio. The bill was set to hit the assembly floor on March 21, 2016.
MMA in New York was not the only topic, as Dardashtian examined and explained why and how neither Bellator MMA nor the athletic commission in Texas would be liable in the cardiac arrest of Dhafir “Dada 5000” Harris immediately after losing to Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson at Bellator 149.
Her career has taken Dardashtian from Emmy-winning television field reporter to legal analyst. That means college, law school and a lot of hustle in between. She reflected on her unique career path, and even engaged in some lively debate about who would be lucky enough to play her (or at least a character based on her) in a movie. If you have suggestions better than Rizzoâs tweet them to the group!
