As MMA continues to grow its presence with the UFC, Bellator MMA, WSOF and ONE FC, fighters are constantly jockeying for position in the eyes (and rankings) of the media.
Every week, Combat Press will rank each weight class from heavyweight to flyweight, as well as the pound-for-pound rankings (including both genders).

Bellator MMA’s Dynamite event may not have lived up to the hype, but its two most promising light heavyweight fighters did their part. Champion Liam McGeary weathered an early storm against former UFC titleholder Tito Ortiz to submit the veteran with an inverted triangle choke from the bottom and retain his title. Promotional newcomer Phil Davis quickly put his stamp on the division, submitting former champion Emanuel Newton in the one-night tournament semifinal before knocking out fellow former UFC combatant Francis Carmont in the final. Davis’s impressive showing keeps him firmly in the No. 6 spot, while McGeary stays in the ninth slot. The pair are expected to meet early in 2016 in the Bellator cage.
