On Sunday, Jan. 15, the UFC hosted UFC Fight Night 103: Rodriguez vs. Penn from the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix.
In the night’s main event, The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America winner Yair Rodriguez took on former lightweight and welterweight champion B.J. Penn in a featherweight contest. Rodriguez entered the match-up having won seven straight fights, including five inside the Octagon. He was coming off a “Fight of the Night” performance against Alex Caceres in August. Penn, meanwhile, returned to competition for the first time since 2014. The Hawaiian had dropped three in a row and had not won a fight since UFC 123, where he stopped Matt Hughes by knockout.
The 12-fight event kicked off Sunday with four bouts streaming live on UFC Fight Pass at 6:15 p.m. ET. Four additional preliminary card bouts followed at 8 p.m. on Fox Sports 1. The four-fight main card aired live at 10 p.m. ET, also on Fox Sports 1.
