GLORY is headed back to France.
Today the promotion revealed that GLORY 28: Paris will take place Saturday, March 12 at the Accorhotels Arena. The event will be broadcast via ESPN networks.
The event will feature a trio of title fights. Heavyweight kingpin Rico Verhoeven will take on Croatia’s Mladen Brestovac in the headlining affair. Light heavyweight titleholder Saulo Cavalari was originally expected to meet former champion Gokhan Saki at the event, but an injury forced Saki off the card. As a result, Cavalari will face off with Russia’s Artem Vakhitov in a rematch of their GLORY 20 meeting which Cavalari claimed via decision.
Topping the night’s SuperFight Series, featherweight champion Serhiy Adamchuk will put his belt on the line for the first time against recent tournament winner, Mosab Amrani.
Also announced for the card is a one-night, four-man lightweight contender tournament. The tournament will feature recent title challenger Sittichai Sitsongpeenong. Other bouts include Murthel Groenhart against fellow welterweight Cédric Doumbé, while Frenchmen Freddy Kemayo and Eddy Nait Slimani make their GLORY debuts.
Additional bouts for the event, as well as the remaining tournament participants, will be announced in the coming weeks.
