Contender Series Season 2, Week 3 Results: Contracts Awarded to Shevchenko and Edwards; Parisian Earns Spot on TUF

On Tuesday, June 26, UFC President Dana White hosted the third installment of season two of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. The promotion holds weekly events from The Ultimate Fighter Gym in Las Vegas, with White awarding UFC contracts to the night’s most impressive performances.

In the night’s main event, Lion Fight women’s lightweight champion Antonina Shevchenko met Bellator MMA veteran Jaymee Nievara. Shevchenko, 33, is currently ranked in the women’s top-10 pound-for-pound of the Combat Press Kickboxing rankings. Shevchenko is the older sister of top-ranked UFC flyweight Valentina Shevchenko. Nievara brought a three-fight winning streak into her Contender Series debut following a short-notice call-up to replace the injured Silvana Gómez Juárez.

In the evening’s main card action, former Bellator athlete Te’Jovan Edwards looked to halt Austin Tweedy’s seven-fight winning streak, Contender Series alum Greg Rebello aimed for redemption and a UFC contract when he locked horns with LFA veteran Josh Parisian, and former UFC fighter Julian Erosa took on LFA mainstay Jamall “Pretty Boy” Emmers.
