BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing is heading back to London this fall, and former boxing world champion Lee “Lightning” Selby will be front and center.
BKB announced that BKB 61 will take place Saturday, Nov. 14, at indigo at The O2 in London, England. Selby will headline the event as he makes his second appearance inside the Trigon.
Selby made the move from traditional boxing to bare-knuckle competition earlier this year. He made his BKB debut at BKB 55: Carnage in Cardiff in June, where he stopped Antonio Rizzo by TKO in the second round.
The victory moved Selby’s bare-knuckle record to 1-0 with one knockout, and now the Welshman will look to build on that performance when he returns to action in London.
“Lee Selby is a proven world champion and one of the biggest names in boxing, so having him back in the Trigon for BKB 61 is a huge moment for us,” BKB CEO David Tetreault said. “London is the perfect stage for a fighter of his calibre, and we know the fans will create an incredible atmosphere.”
Before taking off the gloves, Selby put together an accomplished professional boxing career.
He captured the IBF featherweight world championship in 2015 with a technical-decision victory over Evgeny Gradovich and went on to successfully defend the belt before losing it to Josh Warrington in 2018. Selby also held the British, Commonwealth and WBC International featherweight championships during his career.
Selby eventually finished his professional boxing career with a 29-4 record and nine knockout victories.
Now, the 39-year-old is looking to establish himself in another combat sport.
“I’m excited to be back in the Trigon and to have the opportunity to fight in London again,” Selby said. “I already know exactly what BKB is all about, and I’m looking forward to getting back in there. I’m ready to put on a great night for the fans.”
Selby’s opponent for BKB 61 has not yet been announced.
The event will mark another trip to London for BKB as the promotion continues to build its schedule in the United Kingdom and internationally.
BKB 61 takes place Saturday, Nov. 14, at indigo at The O2 in London. Additional bouts and event details are expected to be announced leading up to fight night.
Tickets for the event are expected to go on sale soon.
