On Friday, August 21, Legacy Fighting Alliance hosted LFA 239 live from Ventura County Event Center in Ventura, California. In the main event Chris Mecate improved to 12-3 with a unanimous decision over Manuel Exposito. Mecate thought a near complete fight, but had to survive a furious final minute from Exposito to notch his fourth career LFA win.
This win saw Mecate rebound from his loss at LFA 215 last year. That fight ended in a doctor’s stoppage after Erick Visconde’s striking forced one of Mecate’s eyes to seal shut.
In the co-main event, former UFC fighter Daniel Frunza won his LFA debut by outclassing Jonathan Hanes on the feet before getting a TKO, by ground and pound, in the second round. Further down the card there was a slew of submissions. Orlando Sanders snapped an armbar on Joaquin Garcia, Aiden Ingram scored a guillotine on Sevak Khachatryan and Christopher Collins got an arm triangle on Terrell Bosen.
