The middleweight division saw the most action in July. At UFC 319, ninth-ranked Paulo Costa got back in the win column with a decision over Roman Kopylov, and Brendan Allen picked up a decision over Marvin Vettori. That same day, tenth-ranked Johnny Eblen lost the PFL middleweight title to Costello van Steenis when he got choked unconscious in the final round. A week later, Reinier de Ridder extended his UFC record to 4-0 when he picked up a split decision over No. 6 Robert Whittaker. De Ridder enters the rankings at No. 6, everyone below him moves down one, and Eblen is the odd man out.

With Dustin Poirier going into retirement, he has been removed from the pound-for-pound rankings, and everyone below him moves up on notch. This makes way for flyweight king Alexandre Pantoja to enter at No. 10.

Any fighter that chooses to switch weight classes will be ranked in their previous weight class until they have competed twice in their new division. Fighters who announce their retirement will remain ranked for a period of six months following their final bout.
