UFC 234 Results: Adesanya Tops Silva, Vannata Submits Mariano

On Saturday, Feb. 9 (in North America), the UFC hosted UFC 234: Adesanya vs. Silva from the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.

The event was expected to feature middleweight champion Robert Whittaker putting his belt on the line against Kelvin Gastelum, but just hours before the event, UFC President Dana White announced that Whittaker had been hospitalized with a hernia and was off the card.

As a result, the night’s scheduled co-headliner between undefeated kickboxing stalwart Israel Adesanya and former middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva was elevated to main event status.
