Bellator 153 Results: Koreshkov Dominates Henderson, Retains Title

On Friday, April 22, Bellator MMA hosted its 153rd event from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

In the night’s main event, the promotion’s welterweight title was up for grabs as Russian champion Andrey Koreshkov welcomed former WEC and UFC titleholder Benson Henderson to the circular cage. The 25-year-old Koreshkov had tasted defeat just once in 19 career bouts and rode a five-fight winning streak. Thirteen of his 18 career wins had come before the final bell. Henderson, meanwhile, had recently reinvented himself as a welterweight. Following back-to-back losses in the lightweight ranks, the Arizona-based fighter moved up in weight and has reeled off two straight wins. He looked to become the first fighter to hold both Bellator MMA and UFC gold.

Also on the night’s main card, Brazilian Patricio “Pitbull” Freire took on Henry Corrales, veteran Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos clashed with Brennan Ward, and British knockout artist Michael “Venum” Page met Jeremie Holloway.

The event kicked off Friday at 7 p.m. ET with a live preliminary card stream, while the five-fight main card followed at 9 p.m ET on Spike.
