On Thursday, July 5, the Professional Fighters League continued its 2018 regular season from the nation’s capital, visiting the Charles E. Smith Center in Washington D.C.
In the night’s main card action, former UFC title challenger and Strikeforce champion Jake Shields kicked off the PFL welterweight tournament against Ray Cooper III. Shields was joined by fellow UFC veterans Rick Story, Paul Bradley and Bojan Velickovic in the 12-man pool of fighters vying for a spot in playoffs.
The card also featured the beginning of the promotion’s middleweight tournament, highlighted by Eddie Gordon and John Howard.
The preliminary card aired live at 7 p.m. ET on Facebook. The main card continued on NBC Sports Network at 10 p.m. ET.
