Alex Pereira (James Law/GLORY)

GLORY 55 Set for New York on July 20 with Two Title Fights

GLORY Kickboxing is returning to the Big Apple.

The promotion has announced that its 55th event will take place Friday, July 20 from the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

In the night’s headlining affair, middleweight champion Alex Pereira faces Yousri Belgaroui for a third time. The pair met twice in 2017, with Belgaroui besting the Brazilian in the GLORY 40 contender tournament. They met again at GLORY 49, with the newly crowned champion Pereira besting Belgaroui via doctor’s stoppage. The rubber match will serve as Pereira’s second title defense.

The featherweight title will also be on the line at the event as one of the sport’s top fighters, Robin van Roosmalen, will rematch Thailand’s Petchpanomrung Kiatmookao. The Thai challenger pushed the Dutchman van Roosmalen to the limit at GLORY 41, but the champion contentiously retained his belt after five rounds. Now, following back-to-back head-kick knockouts, Petchpanomrung will once again fight for gold.

Additional bouts for the event, as well as the GLORY 55 SuperFight Series, will be announced in the coming weeks. Broadcast plans for the event have yet to be announced, but the event is expected to be streamed on UFC Fight Pass and ESPN.
