On Saturday, June 10, Kunlun Fight put on one of the best kickboxing shows of the year from Bangkok, Thailand, for Kunlun Fight 62.
In the evening’s main event, Muay Thai superstar Buakaw Banchamek returned to Kunlun Fight against Chinese prospect Kong Lingfeng, who he defeated at Kunlun Fight 39 in 2016. Buakaw had won back-to-back fights since Yi Long bested him in the 2016 Combat Press Kickboxing ‘Robbery of the Year’. Buakaw is still undefeated inside the Kunlun Fight ring with seven straight wins, which includes a victory over top-10 opponent Dylan Salvador. Kong Lingfeng was bounced out of this year’s 70-kilogram tournament by Andrei Kulebin in the final at Kunlun Fight 57. Lingfeng returned to the win column with a decision victory over Nongsai at Kunlun Fight 60.
In the night’s main card action, some of the world’s most popular Thai fighters took on Chinese and foreign challengers in the birthplace of Muay Thai. Top-10 lightweight Superbon Banchamek returned against the always game Russian Artem Pashporin. Former Lumpinee stadium champion Singdam Kitamuu9 made his Kunlun Fight debut against China’s Gu Hui. Top welterweight Artur Kyshenko earned his fifth straight win against Italy’s Gabriel Mazzetti. Kunlun Fight 65-kilogram tournament champion Wei Ninghui took on Thailand’s Kompetch Fairtex in a rematch of their Kunlun Fight 57 contest.
In the evening’s tournament action, 2014 finalist Victor Nagbe met Russia’s Armen Israelyan in the first leg of the group 10 semifinals. In the other semifinal, 2016 70-kilogram tourney quarter-finalist Tian Xin fought Ukraine’s Sergii Kuliaba. In the group 11 qualifying tournament field, France’s Yohann Drai fought China’s Yiliyasi, and 2016 tournament quarter-finalist Wu Xuesong took on Czech lightweight Martin Gano.
The event aired live at 6 a.m. ET on Workpoint (Thailand) and the Kunlun Fight App. Check back following the event for the full results.
