The featherweight division was the busiest weight class of the week, with both Bellator MMA and the UFC holding events headlined by 145-pound fighters. Sixth-ranked Cub Swanson took care of business at UFC Fight Night 108, cruising past Artem Lobov via unanimous decision. At Bellator 178, Brazilian Patricio “Pitbull” Freire recaptured the featherweight belt, submitting Daniel Straus in the pair’s fourth meeting. Freire’s victory pushes Straus out of the top 10.

One of the most impressive performances of the week came from Mexico’s Brandon Moreno, who put ranked opponent Dustin Ortiz to sleep with a rear-naked choke following a violent head kick at UFC Fight Night 108. With the victory, Moreno enters the top 10 for the first time, one spot ahead of Ortiz.
