On Saturday, Jan. 14, Wu Lin Feng returned to Zhengzhou, Henan, China with its ‘year end’ show, Wu Lin Feng 2017.
In the evening’s main event, the winner of the one-night, eight-man 63-kilogram tournament was crowned. In the quarterfinal match-ups, China’s Liu Wei took on heavy-hitting Russian Tamerlan Bashirov, Joey “The Filipino Kid” Baylon met Zhao Fuxiang, China’s Jin Ying fought Colombia’s Joan Manuel Lique Canaveral, and Romania’s Adrian Maxim clashed with China’s Wang Zhiwei.
In the evening’s main card action, top-10 middleweight Fang Bian earned his 53rd straight win against Germany’s Berat Aliu. One of the world’s top pound-for-pound fighters and the current K-1 65-kilogram champion, Kaew Weerasakreck, came to China to fight local favorite Wang Pengfei. Japanese K-1 veteran Yuta Kubo fought China’s Xie Lei. Aggressive former Muay Thai stadium champion Saiyok met Sun Weiqiang. One of China’s most popular fighters, Yi “The Fighting Shaolin Monk” Long returned against Dutch-Surinamese kickboxer Marco Piqué.
Lastly, a one-night, four-man 70-kilogram tournament started off the night. The tournament featured former top-10 kickboxer Enriko Kehl against Belorussian Farkhad Akhmejanau and top Chinese 70-kilogram fighter Jiao Fukai opposite Russia’s Shamil Gasanbekov.
