On Saturday, Oct. 1,Ā the UFC returned to Portland, Ore., for UFC Fight Night 96: Lineker vs. DodsonĀ which took placeĀ from the Moda Center.
In the night’s main event, former two-time flyweight title challenger John Dodson clashed with fellow heavy-handed knockout artist John Lineker. The 32-year-old Dodson returned to the bantamweight division in April and stoppedĀ Manny Gamburyan in just 47 seconds. Dodson’s only two defeats since 2009 have come against flyweight king Demetrious Johnson. Lineker, meanwhile, had gone 9-2 under the UFC banner, but frequently struggled to make weight. Since moving up to 135 pounds, Lineker had earned three straight wins, including a first-round destruction ofĀ Michael McDonald in July.
The co-main event featured former Bellator MMA lightweight champion Will Brooks againstĀ Alex Oliveira.
The 12-fight event kicked off SaturdayĀ with four bouts streaming live on UFC Fight Pass at 7:15 p.m. ET. Four additional preliminary card bouts followed on Fox Sports 2 at 9 p.m. ET, with the four-fight main card airing at 11 p.m. ET onĀ Fox Sports 1.
