Superkombat World Grand Prix Isai Results: Ngimbi Bests Paraschiv, Captures Vacant Title

On Saturday, Oct. 1, Superkombat returned to Isai, Romania for the first time in nine years for SUPERKOMBAT World Grand Prix 2016 Final Elimination.

In the main event of the evening, former It’s Showtime champion Chris Ngimbi fought Kunlun Fight veteran Amansio Paraschiv for the vacant 72.5-kilogram title. Paraschiv most recently stopped Ivan Rangel in the first round at the Superkombat World Grand Prix in Mamaia in July. Ngimbi fell short in his bid to become the 2016 Kunlun Fight 70-kilogram tournament champion when he lost to Lee Sung-Hyun in the finals of the one-night, four-man qualifying tournament at Kunlun Fight 40. He won 2015 Combat Press Kickboxing “Knockout of the Year” honors with a monstrous flying-knee knockout of top Russian prospect Ilya Usachev.

The preliminary card aired live at 11:30 a.m. ET on Sport.ro. The main card began at 3 p.m. ET on Eurosport 2 (Russia). Check back following the event for the full results.
