UFC Fight Night 90 Results: Alvarez Crushes Dos Anjos, Captures Lightweight Belt

On Thursday, July 7, the UFC hosted UFC Fight Night 90: Dos Anjos vs. Alvarez from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

In the night’s main event, lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos put his title on the line against former Bellator MMA titleholder Eddie Alvarez. The Brazilian dos Anjos rode a five-fight winning streak, including a 66-second destruction of Donald Cerrone in his first title defense last December. Alvarez, meanwhile, earned his crack at gold with back-to-back wins over former champion Anthony Pettis and former Strikeforce kingpin Gilbert Melendez.

The co-main event featured a battle of heavyweight knockout artists as veteran Roy Nelson clashed with Derrick Lewis. The 40-year-old Nelson snapped a three-fight skid in February with a decision win over Jared Rosholt. Lewis entered the bout having won three straight, all via knockout.
